Johnny Williamson, PMHNP-BC

Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner,
Board Certified

Hi, my name is Johnny. I am a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) providing inclusive, holistic, trauma-informed, and evidence-based psychiatric care. My work is grounded in the belief that effective treatment begins with listening deeply and understanding each patient as a whole person shaped by their unique life experiences, genetic background, family systems, culture, and environment.

In my practice, I prioritize thorough diagnostic assessment, careful review of medication regimens, and collaborative treatment planning. I work closely with patients to discuss the potential benefits and risks of different treatment options, ensuring decisions are thoughtful, individualized, and aligned with each patient’s goals, values, and stage of life. I aim to create a space where patients feel heard, respected, and actively involved in their care rather than rushed or reduced to a checklist of symptoms.

I completed both my undergraduate and master’s degrees at The Ohio State University and began my clinical career at OSU East and Talbot Hall. I later transitioned into outpatient mental health and addiction services at Lighthouse Behavioral Health Solutions and Basecamp Recovery Center, where I specialized in dual diagnosis care. My clinical experience includes the diagnosis and treatment of ADHD, anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, mood disorders, psychotic disorders, sleep disturbances, PTSD, and complex trauma presentations.

Education is a central part of my work. I have presented at OSU’s Ross Hospital, Talbot Hall, and Buckeye Summit, and I regularly participate in professional education for healthcare providers through collaborations with pharmaceutical organizations such as AbbVie and Axsome. I am passionate about translating neuroscience and psychopharmacology into language patients can understand, empowering them to make informed decisions and better understand their own mental health.

As a provider, my goal is not only symptom relief but long-term stability, insight, and growth. It is a privilege to support patients and families through difficult seasons, and I am deeply committed to practicing psychiatry with humility, curiosity, and compassion.

Please note: I do not prescribe controlled substances at this time.
